Read MoreStorm Over Lake Superior
We had another series of storms pass over Lake Superior. It appeared like the sun might show behind the clouds so I drove down to the Cutface Wayside to see if I couldn’t get a photo of a rainbow should one appear. As soon as the storm moved out over the lake the sun’s rays started to light up the trees over the Sawtooth Mountains. Then all of a sudden out came the rainbow. With the dark clouds behind, the colors were even more intense.
I set up the tripod alongside HWY 61 and started to take some photos. The storm wasn’t done yet as lightning was striking the water about every 30 seconds. I was shooting the rainbow photos at 1/40 of a second so I never thought that I would be able to capture any of the lightning strikes since they are way faster than that. I took about twenty images and was very surprised to find that one of the photos did capture a bolt of lightning right before it entered the waters of Lake Superior.
