Behind our house, Karla and I have a pond with many native plants. One of my favorite is the fragrant water lily. They are hard to photograph because the flower petals are white and tend to wash out in bright sunshine. Trying to photograph them in lower light doesn’t work either. As the sun goes away the flowers close up and only a green pod sticks out.Fragrant Water Lilies 002
There were so many blooming this weekend that I put on my waders and went into the pond to try and capture some images. I was careful to look inside my waders first because one of the last times I put on the waders a mouse was in the toe. I thought I felt something crawling around but just figured it was just my imagination. When I stepped into the pond the mouse must have gotten cold and decided it was time to climb out. As it came up my leg I did quite a dance trying to get out of the water. As I got to shore he jumped out and scampered on his way.
