Sorry for being late this week. As some of you know I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Last week was spent in the hospital. I had a Radical Prostatectomy on Wednesday, April 21, and my prostate was removed. The next day was back to surgery again because of complications with the plumbing.
Knowing that I was going to be spending a few days in the hospital I asked Jenny, Ruby, Kate and Steve if they wanted to take some photos from the sharp-tailed grouse blinds. It was a beautiful morning with clear skis and calm winds and the birds were dancing.Riding Off
From the blind Ruby saw the beautiful horses in the farmer’s pasture and wondered if she could ride one. I told her that in all the times coming here I had never seen anyone riding the horses so they probably couldn’t be ridden.
Shortly after that the farmer came by in his truck and asked if the girls would like to come over to see some of their critters. They could scratch a cow, catch a chicken or ride a horse. The girls were thrilled.Hatching Out
On the way home the girls were talking about writing in their journals about the trip. They rated the many outdoor adventures that occurred that morning. Few kids get to experience the dancing of the sharp-tailed grouse but because of all the other exciting outdoor happenings that morning, the birds were towards the bottom of the list.Ruby
I should mention that my surgery was successful. They removed all the cancer. I ask the surgeon what would have happened if we had delayed the surgery a year. He said that with the amount of cancer and how aggressive it was he probably wouldn’t have been able to help me.
So remember men to watch your PSA scores. Get tested every year. You don’t’ want to miss out on smiles like the ones in these photos.
We want to thank everyone for their prayers during this last week.
