The lupines are at their peak on the North Shore. There is a pond about five miles up the Caribou Trail in Lutsen that is surrounded by these beautiful flowers. I had a chance to visit on a very misty foggy morning this week to photograph the flowers in all their glory. It started to rain as I was taking this picture, adding to the mystical look of the photo.
I kept the camera dry by using a zip-lock bag with just the tip of the lens sticking out. I was watching for a moose to emerge from the dense fog. I have seen moose in this pond on probably a dozen occasions but no luck on this trip.
