This week Karla and I had the opportunity to camp for a couple of nights at Scenic State Park and photograph the state flower, the Pink and White Showy Lady’s-Slipper.

Scenic State Park is known for its large pine, beautiful lakes and many Showy Lady’s-Slippers. Due to the cold spring the flowers bloomed later this year. Normally they would have been flowering two weeks ago.

We found lots of flowers. One spot we discovered had from 500 to 750 Showy Lady’s Slippers covering the ground. The patch was about 50 feet wide by 100 feet long. Neither one of us had seen that many Lady’s-Slippers in one place before.

There were also some Yellow Lady's-Slippers still out.

The wild roses were everywhere.
