We want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. We don’t have much snow for a white Christmas but the cold winds have produced ice in many areas along the North Shore.

This week, we were in Grand Marais and walked down to the beach to check out the ice.

The wind chill was -25 but the sites were well worth the time spent along the shore. The spray was freezing along the rocks as I watched.

Both Grand Marais break walls are covered with ice. It is amazing how ice can form into so many beautiful shapes and designs. With the present forecast it looks like the ice will last for some time so many people will have an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful sculptures over the holidays.
