The Sawtooth Mountains cover the North Shore from Tofte to Grand Marais. The ridges are covered with maples. When maple leaves change to their fall wardrobe I can’t think of anything that is more beautiful.
North Shore Country Road
This year the colors are absolutely magic. The right combination of sunlight and rain produced some of most brilliant reds and brightest oranges.
I was able to spend a couple of days with friends, Steve and Travis, photographing the fall splendor at both the Sawtooth Mountains and Mount Sophie in the Grand Portage Reservation.
The colors may last a couple more weeks so if you can find the time in the next week I would encourage you to check out the beautiful autumn scenery.
Superior Hiking Trail
The Superior Hiking Trail takes you though some of the most beautiful hardwoods on the North Shore.
Even the forest floor this time of year is beautiful.
Colors of Fall
Travis taught me how to take abstract photos of fall colors. Just spin your camera.
Mount Sophie is located in the Grand Portage Indian Reservation. It gives you a very impressive view of maple ridges.
Mount Sophie Fire Tower
Travis took this photo of me on the fire tower. If you want to see more of his work click on his web site. http://www.travisnovitsky.com
