For some reason there have been only a small amount of mushrooms this year. I thought with all the rain we had, the mushrooms would have shot up but that is not the case. It must have been too dry earlier in the year. Mushrooms are very sensitive to changes in temperature and moisture

We found a good stand of Coral Fungi last week. I think these are called Purple Club Coral. They aren’t very tall but if you get down on the ground with your camera you can get some great pictures. There were hundreds of these under some dense conifer trees.

I would describe these mushrooms as a bunch of snakes or worms heading in the wrong direction. Some of the books claim they are edible but I wouldn’t be able to get past the thought of eating angle worms.
