Read MoreIn the winter, I enjoy the high waves as they usually cover the trees with ice along the shore of Lake Superior. On shore winds are necessary for the spray to reach the shoreline. Most of the high winds this winter have been from the Northwest so we haven’t seen much spray freezing to the trees and rocks.
Last week, a storm had strong enough winds to produce the spray. In the Gooseberry picnic area, beautiful icicles formed on the chains and columns that were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s.
One morning I was able to get out and photograph these short-lived icicles before the warm weather caused them to disappear.
