Lake Superior Waves 001

This week a low pressure cell passed over Lake Superior and stirred her up. Somewhere on Lake Superior’s 31,820 square miles, the winds had riled the surface.

It was fun to stand along the shore and watch the waves coming in with no wind behind them. It was calm as the huge rollers clobbered the shore all afternoon.

As park visitors stood on the beach awestruck, they experienced the power of Lake Superior. Several said the waves were big enough to surf but Lake Superior’s water is way too cold.
