As sometimes happens with fall colors they were at peak for less than 24 hours. The leaves turned on Thursday and by Friday we had high winds and rain. The bad weather took off all the leaves on the tops of the trees. I have been trying to get to Mt Sophie at the right time for five years and haven’t made it yet.
The leaves at the tops of the trees were gone but that doesn’t mean that the woods weren’t alive with color. Walking the forest trails was unbelievable. The yellows, reds and oranges were beautiful. The aroma of the newly fallen leaves was everywhere. A photo opportunity awaited no matter which way you looked.
