It looks like we will have a real winter. Most of the North Shore received 18 inches of snow last week and some spots up the Gunflint have gotten 40 inches. Ski and snowshoe trails couldn’t be better. I did some snowshoeing this weekend while retrieving a Christmas tree.
The temperatures were too cold to ski as the thermometer plunged to about 15 below zero and the strong winds put the wind chill factor at about 30 below. Our cabin windows develop the most beautiful window frost with the cold temperatures. They look like enchanted forests of pine trees and ferns. I have attached two photos that were taken this afternoon. I think one looks like a winter shoreline of pines and cedars.
