I think spring has finally arrived on the North Shore. There is plenty of water cascading over the waterfalls which makes hiking along the rivers very enjoyable. We hiked two of the rivers this week. I took this photo of the Middle Falls on the Gooseberry River with a clear blue sky in the background.
I went out with the outdoor editor for the Duluth News Tribune this morning to see if we could call in a bull moose for a story he is going to run this weekend. I thought the odds would be about 1000 to 1 but on our third stop we did call in a nice young bull. It was a pretty exciting adventure. I will let you read about it in the Duluth News Tribune this weekend.
It is pretty awesome to watch the huge chunks of ice come over the falls. I have experienced this only three times while living on the North Shore; twice on the Gooseberry River and once on the Pigeon River at Grand Portage.
